The Madagascar Animal Trivia DVD Game provides interactive "edutainment" in the form of anthropological and biological science trivia through your standard DVD player and its remote control.

As the title suggests, it features characters and film clips from the DreamWorks' movie now in theaters as well as a ream of real nature footage on which most the questions are then based. The game also features b Equal's "dynamic leveling" technology where up to four players each pre-select a difficulty setting according to age group (6 - 9, 10 - 13, 14 and up). It then actively monitors results and adjusts the difficulty of each successive question based on correctness of the last ones. The self-adjusting difficulty curve is not flawless, but it is effective most of the time.

Questions come in the form of multiple choice, true or false and simple honor system that asks if you barked out the right answer, which are relayed (and tabulated) via the four directional arrows and the "select" button on your remote control--which can be frustrating since there are no "do overs" if you miscue your answer or your batteries are low and can't get the thing to respond in time.

Still, with some 1600 questions delivered in a light and lively "Who Wants to be a Zoologist" TV show environment, Madagascar Animal Trivia delivers solid family fun while teaching all involved a thing or two about lions and tigers and bugs in process.
