Wii Fit
Wii
Be skeptical if you must, but Wii Fit really is a game that's good for your health. Better said, it's a great game that's also good for you health.

Grand Theft Auto IV
PlayStation 3, Xbox 360
It turns out, sometimes hyped-up things really are all they're cracked up to be. Not often, but sometimes. This is one of those times. If you want to see a monster of a videogame and don't have a new-generation console yet, get one. Then get Grand Theft Auto IV.

Universe at War: Earth Assault
Xbox 360
Brought to you by some of the developers involved with the lovingly campy Command & Conquer games, Universe at War: Earth Assault doesn't quite match C&C's kitschy real-time strategy (RTS) shtick, though its gameplay mechanics and interesting mix of races does offer an engaging, albeit wildly unbalanced take on the whole RTS thing.

Silent Hill Origins
PlayStation 2
If you like your videogaming with mood, polish and some freaky scares, it doesn't get any more consistently stylish or creepy than the Silent Hill series. Silent Hill Origins specifically, meanwhile, is illustrative of why the ol' PS2 is still a relevant game system.

Mario Kart Wii
Wii
Have Kart, will race. Have large noggin, will chortle. Have Mario Kart Wii, will frame Page 13 of the manual and add it to the Princess Peach shrine in the basement next to the holographic likeness Farore, Goddess of Courage, Bane of Ganondorf. Take your pick.

Insecticide
Nintendo DS
If you're left handed, or if you covet subtle humans niceties like, oh, eyesight, you might want to steer clear of Insecticide, even though it's otherwise a pretty good bang at that whole murder mystery action/adventure thing.

Devil May Cry 4
Xbox 360
Long awaited, hotly anticipated, and never understated, Capcom's Devil May Cry 4 for Xbox 360 arrives with all its expected stylishness and glam-goth-garishness intact -- and buffed, in fact, as Cry 4 also marks franchise's first showing in high-def on the new generation consoles, eye-candy for the soul.

Furu Furu Park
Wii
Funny, but Majesco usually has a knack for instilling gameplay "value" into their "value priced" games. So it follows that Furu Furu Park begs the question: what the hell happened?

Sony transformed the second floor of a conference center in the suburbs of Toronto into a showcase for the company's product line for the upcoming year. While hard-working employees of retail outlets endure Sony-guided tours, Dave Willson was there strictly for the free lunch. But he took notes, too.

Down Lo on the Downloads: Shop-Store-Market 05/08
With the PlayStation Store closed for virtual renovations the last month -- it's reopened now -- only Microsoft's Xbox Marketplace and Nintendo's Virtual Console offered up any new downloadable games. That's good news and bad news on the competition front; a few good games came available... and a few lousy ones.

Grand Theft Auto IV: No Game for Young Kids
The new pinnacle of videogame development on a technical level, Grand Theft Auto IV (GTA IV) is also representative of the great divide between art and entertainment, or better said, the public's perceptions of it and kids who couldn't care less.
